A new apartment development has been proposed for Hollywood Plaza, with plans lodged for 198 apartments across six buildings on a currently underutilised portion of the Salisbury Downs site.
The proposal comes as Hollywood Plaza continues to evolve, following recent improvements BELL has contributed to that have enhanced the customer experience and retailer activation. Together, these developments have strengthened the retail experience and reinforce the centre’s role as a key community hub.
Located southwest of the shopping centre on land currently used for car parking, the development will introduce new housing within walking distance of shops, services, transport connections and community facilities.
Currently lodged for planning approval, the proposal comprises buildings ranging from three to six storeys. BELL has developed a scheme that delivers an activated ground plane with public and private landscaped areas. The connected residential environment will sit neatly adjacent to its suburban context, delivering a medium density living opportunity.
For BELL, the proposal represents a positive example of well-planned infill development, bringing new housing to an established neighbourhood, while making efficient use of existing services and infrastructure. It supports greater housing choice and offers an alternative to continued growth on the suburban fringe.
