METL

Maritime Employees Training Limited (METL) is a national, not-for-profit training organisation providing training and recruitment services for maritime workers.

In 2017 METL announced plans for a base in Western Australia to provide training in a range of high-risk licenses including dogging, rigging and crane operations, for thousands of seafarers each year.

BELL provided architecture and interior design services.

The facility includes a physical training space, staff and student amenities, classrooms and lecture spaces, and METL’s state administrative offices.

A master plan of the site included a water rescue simulation facility and potentially the installation of a ship hull and crane to allow crane operators the ability to train in a close to live environment.
