HOYTS Cinemas is one of the world’s leading entertainment corporations, and owns and operates 50 cinemas, 433 screens and more than 62,000 seats across Australia and New Zealand.

In 2019 Carbo Developments added two Hoyts cinemas to the Parade Shopping Centre in Norwood, South Australia.

At the same time, Hoyts undertook a full upgrade and refurbishment of its entire entertainment complex, including seven existing cinemas and new automatic recline seating throughout.

BELL was engaged to provide architecture and interior design services and administer the contract between the client and builder.

The project required close collaboration with Hoyts to ensure the new building allowed for seamless integration of the pre-determined cinema design modules.

A staged approach to the refurbishment allowed all cinema operations to be maintained without disruption to the patrons or client.
