Australian Clinical Labs (ACL) is a pathology services market leader and operate across Australia from 900+ collections sites servicing doctors, specialists, hospitals and corporate clients.

Early in 2019 ACL opened a new 3000sqm national referral laboratory within the Adelaide Airport business precinct, to improve pathology service levels in South Australia and across the country.

The new laboratory features world-class pathology technology and logistics equipment to greatly improve work practice efficiencies, as well as modern staff accommodation, warehousing and 133 car parks for staff and visitors.

BELL was engaged to provide architecture and interior design services.

The project required complex interior design and planning of the lab facility to deal with the workflows, storage, equipment and integration of digital, automated, mechanised and human driven laboratory process.

The design team convened lab design and planning workshops with ACL pathology specialists, laboratory experts and specialist equipment suppliers in order to deliver this outcome.
